Breeding of millet

Our objective in terms of the breeding of millet is to produce an assortment of varieties, which comply with the criteria of human consumption and livestock feeding. These criteria are higher protein content, higher mineral content, easy to husk, different colours, drought resistance, good stability, short growing season, resistance to diseases, balanced maturity. Together with breeding, variety maintenance of millet and the elaboration of a new cultivation technology, which meets current requirements, is also necessary.
