It can be awarded to researchers of IAREF who have made lasting and excellent efforts for the IAREF, primarily in relation with plant breeding and who have contributed to the successfulness of plant breeding within and the development of IAREF, external experts or public figures who have significantly contributed to the successfulness of plant breeding within and the development of IAREF.
The recipient of the award receives a medal, a certificate and if he/she is an employee of IAREF, the double of the minimum wage effective on the first day of the awarding year.
The medal is made of bronze and is circle shaped. On its front side the inscription Institutes for Agricultural Research and Educational Farm can be seen along with a composition of local plants. Its backside shows the portrait of Vilmos Teichmann together with his date of birth and death.
